Earlier this month, the Borsetti Lab and collaborators attended the poster symposium for the 2026 Research Internships in Ocean Sciences (RIOS) program! Ten undergraduates were selected this summer from institutions across the country and participated in a 10-week summer internship offered by the Department of Marine and Coastal Sciences at Rutgers University. Their projects researched topics spanning from satellite oceanography to larval biology!
Landon Lankford, undergraduate from UNC Wilmington, worked with the Borsetti Lab and Nicole Fox to investigate spatial trends of summer flounder diet in New Jersey. He also assisted with the Fish Tagging Research and Education Program (FiTREP) and was a helping hand in the plethora of fieldwork occurring at the Haskin lab! In recognition of his excellent research and ability to present that work to other researchers, he was one of two recipients awarded for best presentation amongst his cohort!
He will continue in stride by presenting his work, titled “Characterizing the Dietary Plasticity of Summer Flounder (Paralichthys dentatus) in New Jersey”, at the 2027 Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography Meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
